Procera AVH – Can it Compete with the Best?

Procera AVH packageAccording to Procera Health, their Procera AVH capsules are a “breakthrough brain supplement that supports brain health and cognitive function”.

The product has a pretty high profile in the USA, thanks to a TV, newspaper, and internet advertising campaign that states clinical studies conducted in Australia have shown the formulation can provide users with a similar brain power to that which they enjoyed 15 years ago.

However, the official sales page provides no link to the alleged study, so the claims are as hard to prove as they are to disprove.

Procera AVH in Summary

Mind Lab ProProcera AVH contains a short list of ingredients. And, in this case, it’s not a really powerful shortlist.

Sure, there’s a decent cerebral vasodilator, an acetylcholine precursor and Hup-A, which keeps acetylcholine around for longer, but there are products available which include more active ingredients and that have greater effects.

However, it’s not an awful product. It won’t make it into the Top 3 though and that’s all that matters on this site.

The most recommended product by me and the consumers is Mind Lab Pro. Check out the full review and see for yourself.

Why Procera AVH?

meetingIf it works in the promised way, Procera AVH should be a particularly attractive product to people who are aged 30+ and beginning to worry their mental abilities may start to decline.

And, of course, those who feel this may have already happened.

The Procera AVH advertising campaign draws attention to the fact that many people’s diets fail to provide all the nutrients the brain needs, and then proceeds to point out the increasing demands modern day living and increasingly complicated technology can place on the mind.

The main promised benefits are:

  • Contains three super nutrients that help support brain and cognitive health
  • A safe and natural supplement with a proven track record
  • Helps support memory, mood, and brain health

Ingredients in Procera AVH

Each (3 capsule) dose provides 1,515mg of the Procera AVH Proprietary Blend.

The blend contains unspecified amounts of three ingredients:

Acetyl-L-Carnitine: An amino acid that is believed to offer anti-ageing benefits and assist cognitive function in a number of ways.

Cognitive functionMuch of its nootropic prowess appears to stem from its ability to boost production of acetylcholine – an important neurotransmitter that is vital for healthy memory function, learning abilities, analytical skills, and many other cognitive processes.

Some experts believe Acetyl-L-Carnitine can also help maintain neuron activity, may offer protection against oxidative stress, and purge the brain of damaging toxins.

However there is also a school of thought that says Acetyl L-Carnitine does not perform at its best unless it is used alongside a source of choline (not the case here).

Huperzine A: A popular nootropic ingredient derived from Chinese Club Moss (huperzia serrata). Chinese herbalists have been useing it as a natural memory enhancer for hundreds of years, but its popularity in the west is a more recent development.

Huperzine A contains an alkaloid that inhibits the abilities of acetylcholinesterase. This is more preferable than it sounds because acetylcholinesterase interferes with the normal function of acetylcholine (an important neurotransmitter that shields the brain from the damaging effects of glutamate).

Some studies suggest supplementation with Huperzine A may also improve the brain’s ability to create fresh cells.

Vinpocetine: An alkaloid extracted from the periwinkle flower.Vinpocetine can encourage widening of the blood vessels (vasodilation). This ensures the brain recieves an improved supply of blood and, therefore, extra nutrients, oxygen, and glucose.

Vinpocetine is often included in nootropic supplements that are designed to boost the memory and enhance the mood.

Some studies suggest it may offer protection against age-related cognitive decline and improve mental energy.

Customer Feedback

Independent feedback is hard to find and in some cases the testimonials read more like a sales pitch than a review.

“As people get older, they start to worry about memory loss and that worry creates stress which creates more memory loss. Well, worry no more, start living again and enjoy life again.”

Such comments hint at manipulation and lack credibility.

It appears some people get more out of Procera than I could!!!

“I love this product. It works extremely well even though I only take 2 capsules a day instead of the recommended dose of 3 capsules.”

“Fantastic nootropic! Gives me extra energy and improves my focus and concentration. It also elevates my mood so I suppose it’s a kind of “happy pill” as well.”

…WOW! if they thought this is good then their mind would be blown with the best product in the game: Mind Lab Pro!

Side Effects & Health Issues

The manufacturer states Procera AVH is not a suitable supplement for pregnant or lactating mothers or any woman who is attempting to conceive. The back of the pack also warns the product is unsuitable for people who have high blood pressure or heart problems. Individuals who have existing or suspected health problems, or are taking medication, are advised to seek their GP’s advice prior to commencing supplementation.

Procera Health does not appear to offer customers a money back guarantee.

Purchasing Options & Considerations

Procera Health does not ship to the UK, so British customers will probably find the Lucky Vitamin website to be the best source of supply. At the time of this review the Lucky Vitamin price was £21.78 for a bottle of 60 capsules.

Recommendations for Best Results

mind lab pro nootropicIn my opinion, Procera AVH is like a lamb amongst wolves because it’s competition outnumbers it heavily and is so much more aggressive.

The Alpha Dog of the nootropics – if I’m sticking with metaphors – is Mind Lab Pro. At the moment, there is nothing out there that can touch it, and I personally vouch for it as a devout customer.

My experience with Mind Lab Pro can be found in my full review. Here you can see just how immense it is compared to the likes of Procera.
